English Premier League club Manchester United and professional golfer Tiger Woods are the world’s most valuable team and athletes, according to Forbes magazine’s latest ranking.
The magazine estimates that United is worth $1.84 billion, ranking above five-times Super Bowl champions Dallas Cowboys ($1.65 billion) and current Major League Baseball World Series winner New York Yankees ($1.15 billion).
Woods earned $105 million in the year to June and claimed first place on the list even though his endorsement deals have decreased by $22 million to $70 million since his marital infidelity became public, according to US magazine Sports Illustrated.
Boxer Floyd Mayweather was the second biggest earner, with $65 million, followed by the National Basketball Association’s Kobe Bryant, who had an income of $48 million.
Bryant also caught up with Woods as the US’s favourite sports star, according to the latest version of the Harris Interactive online survey. The golf player had been the sole holder of the post since 2006.
