Some key highlights of the survey, which was based on information received from more than 1,500 golf courses from 35 countries in the EMA region regarding their operating performance in 2007:
Golf courses in the Middle East continue to demonstrate outstanding performance in terms of both rounds and revenues generated at club level.
Top performing 18-hole golf courses recorded between 45,000 and 50,000 rounds in the sub-regions and countries with the most favorable climatic conditions.
According to our survey results, average revenues at 18-hole facilities range between EUR 600,000 (Eastern Europe) and EUR 1.4 million (Western Europe), while Middle East courses reported a further increase in their revenues compared to the previous year with close to EUR 6 million on average and courses in Dubai exceeding EUR 7 million on average.
The average revenue per hole generated by a golf course is about 3-4 times lower than the average development cost per hole in most of the surveyed regions.
