This regional report on South America, based on responses from almost 120 golf course operators regarding their operating performance in 2007, presents some very interesting findings about this unique and rapidly developing market.
Although the game of golf appeared in South America around the turn of the 19th century, popularity of the game has been experiencing a rapid growth only during the past ten-fifteen years. This is the contribute of a number of factors, including the growing economies of the continent, the international success of some players like Angel Cabrera, Eduardo Romero and Camillo Villegas, as well as the growing interest in golf by the media.
