Benchmark indicators for the operational performance of golf courses in the Western Europe & South-East Mediterranean region

The analysis presented in this regional report on Western Europe has been performed based on the responses of over 360 participating golf courses, regarding their operating performance in 2006. This report also contains benchmark information for the South-East Mediterranean region of Europe, which is represented for the first time in the Golf Benchmark Survey.

Some key highlights of this report:

• Spanish clubs have the highest membership base (over 1,100) both in the region and in Europe, reflecting a strong and continuously growing local demand.
• In terms of total rounds played Spanish and Portuguese 18-hole golf courses are among the best performers in Europe with around 30,000 rounds played in 2006 on average.
• Golf courses in France reported less positive results than courses in other countries of Western Europe.
