Benchmark indicators for the operational performance of golf courses in the Central European region

The analysis presented in this regional report on Central Europe has been performed based on the responses of almost 250 participating golf courses regarding their operating performance in 2006.

Some key highlights of this report:

  • Austria has the highest participation rate in the region (1.2 percent) which is also one of the highest in continental Europe.
  • With approximately 820 members, the membership base of German 18-hole golf clubs is one of the highest in Europe, but still below the 1,000 member level surpassed by courses in Norway, Sweden and Spain.
  • Golf courses in this region registered the highest share of female members in comparison to all other regions of the Golf Benchmark Survey.
  • The level of outsourcing different services (e.g. pro-shop, food and beverage etc.) is very high in Central Europe.
